Longyearbyen
is the administrative centre of Svalbard and is located on
Spitsbergen, the largest island of the Svalbard archipelago.
It is one of the world's northernmost towns with
approximately 2,075 inhabitants. Due to its location north
of the Arctic Circle, it has an Arctic tundra climate and
polar night from October to February and day from April to
